Centennial Review – 2022 Hyundai Tucson
2022 Hyundai Tucson Overview
The Hyundai Tucson is among the most popular and critically applauded compact crossovers on the market, and the hype is intensifying as we near the arrival of the 2022 Hyundai Tucson. The 2022 model is a total redesign that ushes in the fourth Tucson generation. It features a bold exterior style, a cabin design that belies the price point, new powertrains and more standard and optional equipment than ever before. As a leading Hyundai dealer serving Centennial Denver Littleton Aurora, we have received many questions about the release date—early 2021—trims, options and so forth, and that inspired us to create this 2022 Hyundai Tucson review with the latest details available as of this writing.

Exterior – Hyundai Dealer serving Centennial CO
An important aspect of this Centennial review is noting that the new Tucson is taller, wider and longer than before. The increased length was necessary to accommodate the additional interior space, and the width and height changes were as much about handling as aesthetics. The wheelbase is 108.3 inches—up 3.4 inches—and the overall length increases by 6.1 inches to 181.3 inches overall. What is interesting is that the Tucson has always been on the small side even for a compact crossover, and this change brings it in line with the other top sellers in the class, such as the CR-V and RAV4.

Interior – 2022 Hyundai Tucson in Centennial CO
The Tucson is a small two-row crossover with seating for five. That does not change with the new generation, but what does change is that the overall passenger volume has been expanded 6.0 cubic feet—up to a total of 108.2 cubes. This allowed Hyundai to increase rear legroom to 41.3 inches—about 3 inches more than the outgoing model—which matches or exceeds all of the competition. Hyundai engineers were also able to improve the cargo capacity. The reserved area behind the back seat is now 38.7 cubic feet—up almost 8 cubes over last year—and space with the seat folded is now 73.8 cubes.

Hyundai Tucson Mechanical specs
As with the outgoing model, front-wheel drive is standard. All-wheel drive is optional, and that option exists at all trim levels. The standard model will have an eight-speed automatic transmission that offers a manual shift mode. Otherwise, the fourth generation is similar to the previous mechanically. The suspension includes a front and rear stabilizer bar, front and rear gas-pressurized shock absorbers, a front independent MacPherson strut with coil springs and a rear independent multi-link design.

Powertrain – Hyundai Dealership in Centennial CO
Questions about the powertrain are among the most common we get at Arapahoe Hyundai and a big reason we wrote this 2022 Hyundai Tucson review. For the new generation, Hyundai will offer four completely new powertrains. The standard model will have a 2.5L inline-four-cylinder engine that is currently rated for 187 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque. If you want a non-hybrid with more power, then you can opt for the N Line. Specs were not available as of this writing, but insiders believe—based on the Sonata—that it will have a 2.5L turbo i-4 that makes 290 hp and 311 lb.-ft. Other options include a 226-hp hybrid powertrain and a 261-hp plug-in hybrid powertrain.
Safety – 2022 Hyundai Tucson dealer
The standard model available at our Hyundai dealership serving Centennial Denver Littleton Aurora will have an 8.8-inch touchscreen, a rearview camera system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and a new voice recognition system that can do things like heat your seats or pop the liftgate.
