Why Buy 2016 Hyundai Tucson near Colorado Springs

Although a relative newbie to the compact crossover SUV market, the Hyundai Tucson has become one of the preeminent choices in this segment since its debut in 2004. The 2016 edition is notable for kicking off the nameplate's third production cycle, coming with a full redesign and a host of attributes that include a silky powertrain, balanced handling, and outstanding safety scores. U.S. News & World Report names the 2016 Hyundai Tucson the #2 vehicle in the Compact SUVs category and names it the 2016 Best Compact SUV for the Money. Four trims are available: the SE, the Eco, the Sport, and the Limited.

2016 Hyundai Tucson Interior

As a five-seater, the 2016 Hyundai Tucson provides a passenger volume of 102.2 cubic feet, plus cargo volume that can be maximized to 61.9 cubic feet if the rear seats are folded down. Upgrading to the SE gets you 8-way power adjustability with power lumbar support on the driver's seat. Hopping onto the Sport or Limited adds front-seat heating capability, with the Limited also getting six-way power adjustability on the front passenger seat and leather seating surfaces. Entertainment on the SE, Eco, and Sport is provided by a six-speaker stereo system that includes SiriusXM satellite radio, Bluetooth connectivity, steering wheel-mounted controls, and a 5-inch color touchscreen. The Limited stands apart with its eight-speaker system and additions like HD Radio and upgrades like an 8-inch touchscreen and navigation system. Bluetooth hands-free phone capability and steering wheel-mounted controls are standard on the 2016 Tucson. Also unique to the Limited are an auto-dimming rearview mirror, dual front automatic climate control, Hyundai's Blue Link for in-car connectivity and the HomeLink universal transceiver for remote-controlling garage doors. (It also joins the Sport trim in having proximity key entry with push-button engine start.)

2016 Hyundai Tucson Exterior

At the base level, the 2016 Hyundai Tucson is fitted with fold-away heated power side mirrors, fully automatic halogen headlights, rear spoiler, and alloy wheels that are either 17-inch (SE and Eco) or 19-inch (Sport and Limited). On trims above the SE, Hyundai adds roof rack side rails, turn-signal indicators on the side mirrors, front fog lights, and LED daytime running lights. A hands-free smart liftgate is on the upper-level Sport and Limited trim; the latter is the only one with longer-lasting LED headlights (instead of halogen ones).

Mechanical / Powertrain
2016 Hyundai Tucson Mechanical / Powertrain

For sharp turns and absorbing the turbulence of road imperfections, the 2016 Tucson uses a highly sophisticated four-wheel, independent front MacPherson strut and rear multi-link suspension, which is fortified by stabilizer bars and enhanced by SACHS® gas-pressurized shock absorbers. Balanced handling is provided by column-mounted motor-driven rack-and-pinion power steering. For power, the new Tucson offers a choice between two inline four-cylinder (I4) engines: the Theta II, which is a 2.0-liter 164-horsepower I4; and the Gamma, which is a turbocharged 1.6-liter 175-horsepower I4. The Theta II goes on the SE, and it is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The Gamma goes on the other trims, and it is hitched to a 7-soeed EcoShift dual clutch automatic transmission for smooth and precise changing of gears. Although front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard on the new Tucson, you can opt for an all-wheel drivetrain for enhanced traction. For the best fuel economy numbers, go with the aptly-named Eco, which, combined with FWD, gives you 26/33 mpg.

2016 Hyundai Tucson Safety

For auto collision protection, the 2016 Tucson comes with front impact, front seat-mounted side-impact, and front and rear roof-mounted side curtain airbags. Accompanying the airbag system are rollover and occupant sensors for governing inflation and deactivation at the proper time. Other safety features-like a rearview camera, driver's blind spot mirror, electronic stability and traction control systems, four-wheel disc brakes with ABS, and electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist-are standard. Hyundai adds blind spot detection, lane change assist, and rear cross-traffic alert on the Sport and Limited. And with the Limited in particular, you have the option of adding rear parking sensors, lane departure warning, and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection for a greatly enhanced level of safety. For security, the 2016 Tucson has an anti-theft security system with panic alarm and engine immobilizer. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) awarded the vehicle with the 2016 Top Safety Pick+ designation for a near-flawless performance in the organization's crashworthiness and front crash protection tests. Similarly, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave the 2016 Tucson a perfect 5-star rating.
