What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe?
The NHTSA has issued 4 recalls listed for the 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe in the provided records, covering air bag systems and rear suspension components. These records show three air bag-related recalls that involve the passenger Occupant Classification System (OCS) connector and driver frontal air bag mounting, and one rear suspension recall that can affect the rear differential on certain manual-transmission vehicles. The air bag OCS defect can cause the passenger air bag to deploy in only the first stage when a second-stage deployment is required, increasing injury risk; the driver air bag recall concerns potentially loose mounting bolts that could allow detachment during a crash. The rear suspension recall covers potential loose differential mounting bolts that could lead to loss of propulsion if the driveshaft disconnects. All corrective actions in these recalls are performed free of charge by Hyundai dealers and are documented by the NHTSA; for assistance, Arapahoe Hyundai in Centennial, CO can help verify and address any open campaigns.

How much does a 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs for the 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe are free of charge to the vehicle owner when completed at an authorized Hyundai dealer. Though the repair labor and parts are covered by the recall, incidental fees such as optional parts not related to the recall may not be covered; our team at Arapahoe Hyundai will explain any exceptions up front. If you need parts or additional service not covered by the recall, ask about our current service specials and available service financing to help manage costs.
Can I get my 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be completed by an authorized dealer to ensure OEM parts, proper diagnostic tools, and manufacturer-trained procedures are used; Arapahoe Hyundai is a certified Hyundai franchise dealer that performs these repairs free of charge. Independent shops cannot perform manufacturer-managed recall repairs that update your vehicle’s recall status in Hyundai’s records; only a Hyundai dealer can complete and document the recall remedy in the manufacturer system. For safety and warranty integrity, bring your 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe to Arapahoe Hyundai in Centennial, CO to have recalls completed correctly and recorded with the manufacturer.
How long does a 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe recall repair take?
Repair times vary by recall type but many Hyundai recall remedies take one to a few hours; some remedies may require parts ordering and could take longer. For example, securing an OCS connector or retightening air bag bolts are typically quick inspections and repairs, while differential assembly verification can take longer if parts or alignment work are needed. To get an accurate estimate, schedule service with Arapahoe Hyundai and we will provide an expected turnaround time when we verify your vehicle’s VIN and open campaigns.
Does an open recall affect my 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe's trade-in or resale value?
Yes—open recalls can reduce trade-in and resale value because many buyers and dealers consider unresolved safety campaigns a risk and may discount or decline a purchase until fixes are completed. Resolving recalls at Arapahoe Hyundai protects your vehicle’s value by ensuring the recall status is cleared in manufacturer records, and we can provide documentation of completed recall work for buyers or inspectors. When you are ready to sell or trade, use our online trade appraisal tool at value your trade after recall remedies are completed to maximize your offer.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe recall?
State inspection rules vary, but unresolved safety recalls can influence inspection outcomes and insurance underwriting in some jurisdictions; addressing recalls promptly reduces those risks. A recall that affects critical safety systems—like air bags or driveline components—may be flagged by inspection stations or by prospective buyers and insurers, so have recalls remedied at an authorized dealer like Arapahoe Hyundai. We recommend scheduling recall checks and repairs immediately via our online scheduler at schedule service so your vehicle remains safe, compliant, and insurable.

Defect

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2010-2016 Genesis Coupe vehicles manufactured December 12, 2008, to June 11, 2016. The electrical harness connector for the front passenger seat Occupant Classification System (OCS) may dislodge when the seat is moved.

Consequence

In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the passenger frontal air bag, the disconnected OCS would, by default, cause the first stage, and only the first stage, of the air bag to deploy, whether there is a child seat in the front seat and the bag should not deploy or if the crash is severe and both stages should deploy. Either scenario increases the risk of injury to the front seat occupant.

Corrective Action

Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will secure the OCS connector to prevent it from disconnecting, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin December 2, 2016. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 151.
