Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2013 Hyundai Sonata?
The NHTSA has issued 17 recalls that affect the 2013 Hyundai Sonata, covering components such as seat belts, airbags, sunroof/roof assembly, engine bearings, hybrid systems, electrical software, parking brake switch, instrument panel ABS indicator, and tire label discrepancies. These notices come from NHTSA records and include safety-related defects that can increase injury risk or vehicle failure; Arapahoe Hyundai can confirm applicability to your VIN. To address any open recall free of charge, schedule service at our Centennial facility and our factory-trained technicians will inspect and repair your vehicle.
How do I check if my 2013 Hyundai Sonata has an open recall?
You can verify open recalls by entering your VIN at NHTSA.gov or by bringing your vehicle to Arapahoe Hyundai for a free VIN recall check. If you prefer hands-off help, call our service team or schedule service online and we will check recalls for you at no charge. We also advise checking periodically because some recalls are issued after initial purchase; Arapahoe Hyundai will notify you if new manufacturer notices apply.
How much does a 2013 Hyundai Sonata recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs are performed free of charge to the vehicle owner when completed at an authorized Hyundai dealer like Arapahoe Hyundai. There is no cost for parts or labor for covered NHTSA recall campaigns; if related repairs outside a recall are needed, ask about our current service specials or service financing via our finance application. If you have questions about coverage or need to verify a recall number, our service advisors can explain the specific corrective action and timelines.
Can I get my 2013 Hyundai Sonata recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be completed by an authorized dealer to ensure OEM parts, factory diagnostic tools, and documented manufacturer procedures — Arapahoe Hyundai is a certified Hyundai franchise dealer and the safest choice for recall work. Independent shops cannot always access certain OEM parts, software updates, or factory technical service bulletins that are required for proper completion and documentation of a recall repair. For your safety and for full manufacturer compliance, schedule service with Arapahoe Hyundai; we also offer service financing so you can get repairs now and pay later if needed.
How long does a 2013 Hyundai Sonata recall repair take?
Repair time varies by recall: many inspections or software reprogramming tasks take under an hour, while component replacements (airbag or engine inspections) can take several hours or a day. When you schedule service we will provide an estimated turnaround based on the specific recall and parts availability to minimize your downtime. If parts are required and not immediately available, Arapahoe Hyundai will notify you and offer priority scheduling or loaner options when possible.
Does an open recall affect my 2013 Hyundai Sonata's trade-in or resale value?
Yes — unresolved safety recalls can negatively affect trade-in offers and resale value because buyers and dealers often verify recall status before purchase. Resolving recalls at a certified dealer protects vehicle value and provides documented proof of completed manufacturer repairs; you can start the appraisal process via our trade-in page. For sellers, having all recalls completed at Arapahoe Hyundai is an important selling point and removes safety liabilities for new owners.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2013 Hyundai Sonata recall?
Some recalls affect required safety systems (airbags, ABS, seat belts), and in some states unresolved safety recalls can lead to failed inspections or denied registrations; check local regulations. Arapahoe Hyundai can inspect and complete required recall repairs to ensure compliance with safety inspections in Centennial and across Colorado. If you need immediate assistance to pass inspection, schedule appointment online and ask about our current service specials and financing options.
