Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2013 Hyundai Tucson?
The NHTSA records show 11 recall entries affecting Hyundai Tucson models that relate to components like trailer-hitch wiring, the anti-lock brake HECU, tail lights, hood latch, and transmission software. These entries include campaigns for trailer hitch wiring harness malfunction (constant trailer brake lights), HECU corrosion that can cause an electrical short and possible engine compartment fire, trailer tail light turn-signal failures, secondary hood latch replacement, and a transmission control module software update for certain dual-clutch transmissions. Arapahoe Hyundai in Centennial, CO, can verify whether your 2013 Hyundai Tucson is included and perform required repairs free of charge under the manufacturer recall program.
How do I check if my 2013 Hyundai Tucson has an open recall?
You can check your VIN on NHTSA.gov or bring your vehicle to our service lane and we will check for open recalls for free. If you prefer, use our online resources or schedule service and our factory-trained technicians will confirm any open recalls and advise next steps.
How much does a 2013 Hyundai Tucson recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs are free of charge to the vehicle owner when performed by an authorized dealer. Arapahoe Hyundai also posts limited-time offers under service specials for non-recall maintenance and provides service financing to help you get necessary work done immediately and pay over time.
Can I get my 2013 Hyundai Tucson recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be performed by an authorized dealer to guarantee free manufacturer coverage and OEM parts; a franchise dealer is the safest choice. For the HECU or fuse replacement related to anti-lock brake concerns, or for tow-hitch harness updates, expect typical repair windows from one to several hours; Arapahoe Hyundai will provide an estimated turnaround when you schedule appointment. Does an open recall affect my 2013 Hyundai Tucson's trade-in or resale value?
Yes—unresolved recalls can reduce buyer confidence and negatively impact trade-in or resale value if not addressed. Some dealers and private buyers check NHTSA records, and unresolved safety recalls—especially those tied to brakes, engine fires, or hood latches—can lower offers or prevent sale; completing recalls protects value and buyer trust. Finish recalls at Arapahoe Hyundai to preserve resale value and then visit our trade-in appraisal page at value your trade for a certified appraisal.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2013 Hyundai Tucson recall?
Some unresolved recalls—especially those affecting lighting, brakes, or hood security—can cause inspection failures depending on state requirements. While inspection rules vary in Colorado and neighboring states, safety-related recalls that affect required equipment (like tail lights or braking systems) may be flagged during inspection; addressing recalls prevents inspection issues.
