8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2014 Hyundai Veloster?
The NHTSA has issued 6 recalls affecting the 2014 Hyundai Veloster: five related to engine defects and one related to the driver's door latch. Engine recalls include premature connecting rod bearing wear (recall number 198) and piston oil ring heat-treatment issues that can cause engine damage or fire risk. The door latch recall (number 183) addresses possible latch housing and locking cable damage that could allow the driver’s door to open in a side impact.
How do I check if my 2014 Hyundai Veloster has an open recall?
You can check your VIN at NHTSA.gov or bring your vehicle to Arapahoe Hyundai and we will check for open recalls free of charge. If you prefer in-person help, visit our service center in Centennial, CO, or schedule service online and we’ll verify recall status using OEM diagnostic tools. We also notify customers when manufacturer mailings are sent; you can call Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460 for recall reference.
How much does a 2014 Hyundai Veloster recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs are free of charge to the owner when performed at a certified dealer such as Arapahoe Hyundai. For the engine-related recalls, Hyundai covers inspections, software updates, and engine replacement if damage is found; for the door latch recall, the latch assembly will be replaced at no cost. We offer service financing so you can get necessary work done now and pay later if any non-recall maintenance is requested during the visit.
Can I get my 2014 Hyundai Veloster recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be completed by a franchise dealer or authorized service provider to ensure OEM parts, correct software, and warranty compliance—so bring it to Arapahoe Hyundai, your local certified Hyundai dealer. Our factory-trained technicians use OEM diagnostic tools and Hyundai-authorized procedures to perform recall repairs correctly and document the repair with the manufacturer. If you have questions about parts or process, our service advisors can explain why dealer repair preserves warranty, resale value, and ensures safety compliance.
How long does a 2014 Hyundai Veloster recall repair take?
Repair times vary: many software updates or latch replacements take a few hours; engine inspections and potential engine replacement can take longer depending on parts availability. At Arapahoe Hyundai we prioritize recall work and will give an estimated turnaround when you schedule service; we also offer loaner options and shuttle service where available to reduce inconvenience. For engine recalls, dealers will inspect and, if bearing or piston damage is found, perform engine replacement and necessary software updates free of charge under the recall.
Does an open recall affect my 2014 Hyundai Veloster's trade-in or resale value?
Yes—an unresolved recall can reduce buyer confidence and may negatively affect trade-in or resale value because many buyers and dealers check NHTSA records before purchase. Resolving recalls at Arapahoe Hyundai protects vehicle value and speeds trade-in appraisals; you can start a valuation at our trade-in page. Having documented dealership repairs performed at a certified Hyundai dealer is a strong selling point for private buyers and dealers alike.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2014 Hyundai Veloster recall?
Open recalls are not typically listed as automatic failure items for state emissions or safety inspections, but unresolved safety recalls can influence insurance and registration outcomes in some jurisdictions. Addressing recalls promptly at Arapahoe Hyundai reduces liability and ensures your vehicle meets manufacturer safety standards; if you’re unsure, schedule service and we will advise on inspection implications. We also offer service specials (service specials) and financing to make timely safety work easier for Centennial and nearby owners.
