12 common questions answered
The 2026 Hyundai Kona has NHTSA-documented recalls that can affect critical vehicle safety systems, and addressing them promptly is essential to protect you and your passengers. Specific defects documented by NHTSA include piston oil rings on some 2.0L engines that were not properly heat-treated and can cause engine damage, potential stalling, or oil leaks that increase fire risk; lithium-ion battery issues that can short-circuit and raise fire risk when fully charged; and Integrated Electronic Brake sensor faults that may reduce braking performance. These are real safety concerns that can increase crash and fire risk if left unaddressed. Insurance carriers may also question coverage if a known recall is ignored and an incident occurs.
